The Parade
Well Wednesday is a big day in Dunwoody. The 4th of July parade will take place with over 115 groups marching down Mt Vern0n Highway. It is wonderfully reminiscent of a small town. Parades. I mentioned on Sunday, that I have actually been in the parade once. I will spare you the details, but it was fun and I am looking forward to being a spectator this week.
I am guessing half of you have been in a parade. I would imagine your experiences range from ecstatic to traumatic. Not everyone loves a parade. As I thought about the parade though, I was reminded of Paul's letter to the Corinthians where he thanks God for leading us in triumphal procession in Christ Jesus.
We are in a parade. The parade. And Jesus is the Grand Marshall. We are called to walk behind Him. Follow Him! Along the way we will see people standing on the side of the road. People who are not in the parade. Our call is to wave and encourage them to join the parade. To enter in. To follow Him.
So as I go to the parade this week I will remember and maybe I will even see some of my neighbors standing on the side of the road, watching the parade.
Come join us in Dunwoody! 9:15a in front of St Luke's church. Or find a parade and remember you are in, thanks to the Grand Marshall.
