Stud Finder
My wife encourages me when she goes and gets things at the store that I then need to do work with. I am sure most married men feel that way. I am not handy man per se. I can do demolition and sweeping pretty well but above that, my technical skills cause me to fall behind the real men.
This was a simple task. Hang up a hook in the garage so I could hang my weedeater on it. We have a finished garage so I knew I would need to find the 2x4 behind the wallboard in order to screw the hook in securely.
I began tapping around a bit, as I have heard you are supposed to be able to "hear"" the board. I guess that is like thumping a cantaloupe in the store to find out if it is ripe. I can't do either. They all sound the same to me.
So I did what I usually do, went on to something I can do: mow the lawn. As I was out in the front yard I noticed Charlie and Roger across the street. Then the thought came to me, "stud finder." I had heard of the device before. Somehow it locates the stud (2x4) in your wall. If anyone would have one it would be those two. So I walked across the street.
They were engaged in conversations about sprinkler heads. (That is a conversation I can not get in to). To make a long story short, Roger had one and he was kind enough to not just lend it to me but, to come over and help me find the stud. A good neighbor.
As we chatted, we talked about life. His wife has been ill. Undiagnosed as of now, but scary. The doctors are trying to find out what is wrong.
Now I need a drill. And Roger and his wife need prayer. I am thinking God knows what is wrong. He is the finder of hidden things and He is the Healer.
So I am reminded today we should go to someone who has a stud finder when we can't "thump" and figure it out for ourselves.
