Dark Night Bright Light
Are you a night owl or an early bird and have you changed over time? I used to be a real night owl. 2am was a good bedtime. Now 10p hits and I am in the sack or falling asleep. It seems to me, in either case, man has "successfully" changed the plan of God. He created night and day. Light and darkness. We have chosen to steal a bit more time from the darkness by creating electric lights (thanks Mr Edison).
I think it can be good to stay up past dark. Not too past though. We need more rest than we get. Americans in general are a tired lot. No siestas for us. I find when I am tired, I am not as sharp, I make poor decisions and do things I wish I would not have.
A friend of mine has a watch that tells him when to take his medicine. Perhaps instead of having alarm clocks to wake us up (because our bodies are not waking up naturally, having had a good night's sleep) we should have alarm clocks that tell us when to go to bed.
That is what we used to do as parents (and our parents did to us). "It's bed time!" Whether we thought we were tired or not. Mom (in this case Dad) knows what is best. We need some sleep. We are cranky and we need some sleep.
When's bedtime?
