Falling
On my weekly trip with Radman, he commented on the beauty of the leaves of the trees as they change color. Yellows and reds and burnt orange, all strikingly rich. "Interesting that they are so beautiful," he said "because they are dead." We chatted about that for a while. Something that is dead can look beautiful.
The things of the world really do seem attractive, colorful and bright. I am not just talking about leaves on trees or nature. I am talking about material goods, money, houses, cars and clothes. Things of the world are enticing, enchanting, exciting, and wonderful but they are temporal. Kinda dead. What will last forever is the beauty of our Lord. He is more like a Spring morning that never ends. When the colors are vibrant and sharp and clear.
The song "From the Inside Out" says, "Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades, never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame" So true and so rich. When I rake the leaves in my yard this weekend I will remember that (a) There is more where they came from; (more to fall on my lawn) (b) the leaves are colorful but dead (c) when all else fades, His light will shine; never ending.
So I hope you will worshipwell as you rake leaves or drive through the country and see the changing of the seasons and that you will remember that He colors our world for His name sake. Blessings!
