Rain and Radiation
Well I had the privelege today to go to radiation in the rain. We chatted on the way down about life, the Lord and the traffic. It rained softly all the way. As we got to Emory we were a bit late and we had to park on the top of the parking deck (uncovered), so we got a bit wet. (Yes, we are men, we do not carry umbrellas)
We entered the Winshape center with a good sized crowd, maybe 15 people or so. They too knew why they were there and what they needed to have done to them. We went downstairs and my friend was able to "touch screen" his name on a computer to tell the clinicians he was in house, albeit late. Then we sat down and I had coffee. We waited. The nurse came. He got radiated. We prepared to leave. I remembered that we wanted to change the time of his appointment for Monday, so I asked the nurse if we could. She said, "Just come anytime. He is in the system. He can touch the screen and we will know he is here"
I thought about that and this weekend as we worship. Our names are "in the system." He knows we have arrived to bask in the radiance of His glory. To be changed. To be healed. So we will come. My friend and I and more then 15 people. And if it rains, I will still not have an umbrella. I will feel the rain as I walk in and it will remind me that the Holy Spirit will rain on us, softly and gently because we need to have something done to us.
