Prayer
I wonder if you might focus on prayer a bit this week. Doing it would be good as well as thinking about doing it. Next week at Perimeter we will begin a time of corporate prayer. 6:30 in the morning and 7:00 at night. Why? Because we think God would want us to come together and pray.
I have written and spoken before about the differences between corporate prayer and individual prayer. Towards the end of the week we will have a free download for you titled The Corporate Prayer Experience. Hopefully it will explain alot.
In the mean time I wonder if you would consider reflecting back on the times you have prayed in a group. My guess is some of those times have been rich and some less so. It really is a mixed bag. There is no "formula for powerful, life changing prayer." It seems to me that some times are simply richer than others, not because of how I planned it, or who shows up, they just are, because God does something that is tangible.
I do want to say that God is ever present as we pray. He is listening and engaging. Sometimes He chooses to break through your emotions. I often find that happens during a time of confession. That is most often when we feel he has shown up.
Often He is changing your thinking as you adore and give thanks. And sometimes it is a deep work in your heart that is being done that can not be detected at the surface.
In all cases, prayer (and by that I mean adoring God, confessing sin, thanking Him and asking Him for what we need) is beneficial to those present. It is worthy of an investment of your time.
So, please think about joining us if you are in Atlanta next week. We plan to worship well.
