Surrender is Freedom
It means to give up. That is what we did this weekend in worship. We sang it, we congregationally professed it and we privately surrendered. Now the question is, "Did we mean it?" Actions and motives may tell the tale.
A surrender is only as good as the one who accepts it. The one who surrenders in incapable. Incapable of fighting, incapable of moving forward or gaining victory. The one who accepts the surrender tells the one who surrendered what to do and how to do it. In a paradoxical way, surrender brings freedom.
So, if we surrender to God He will free us. Not feeling free? Surrender again. Now before you think this is a vicious circle, "I can never surrender enough" let me say you are right about not being able to surrender enough, but the circle is a good one, not a vicious one. Maybe it is more of a winding road. The spirit has to move you and you have to struggle.
So what will you surrender? Your anger, fear, unforgiveness, pride, the relationship, the dream? Much to think of, and I find that there are new things to surrender, as well as old.
You will never be fully surrendered in this lifetime, but you can be often surrendered. I encourage you to start again. Surrender. The pathway to freedom in Christ.
