How to stop conflict?

I do not know many, if any, people who like it. It seems to be a part of our lives that is unavoidable though. I want to eat at Burger King and she likes Arby's. I want to set the room up the way I want, he has a different view. The potential conflicts are endless in life, especially when you multiply them by the number of relationships you have.

So what are we to do? Give in? Let everyone else have their way? Be a martyr? Perhaps. I have found in my better moments that there a few things worth arguing about. Maybe the centrality of the Cross, perhaps the virgin birth, or the resurrection. Even those things are well defended by Jesus and are dependent on the Holy Spirit to have a chance at a successfully winning argument. Maybe we just hit a key point. The Holy Spirit.

I often want to trust reason over revelation in an argument. I want to prove my point. In some things I can perhaps. If it is a point of conviction or preference, I will not be able to logically convince the other that I am right, because there is no right or wrong. There may be a better way to do it, but I will usually not be able to press the point home and if I do it could come at a relational expense.

So what are we to do? Lets look to Christ. He really did not do alot of convincing (read that arguing) He stated truth and He loved well. He served and He gave. The Holy Spirit came along and changed hearts and minds.

So I am thinking I should pray more and love more and give an opinion when asked. God is big. I want Him to show up and lead, and direct and change minds. He might even change my mind! Blessings
