Lost Bibles and Jacob

Our lead teacher left his bible at the church after he did a funeral Saturday afternoon and called me to look for it as I got there before he did for Saturday night service. We scoured the place, podium, backstage, aisles, garbage cans, checked with security and even lost and found. No bible. We did it again, two or three of us looking around, even with a flashlight backstage. Pause this thought.......

The "Lost" episode from two weeks ago takes Locke and Ben to a mysterious house where Ben is going to have Locke meet "Jacob" whom, Ben claims, really runs things. They go into the house and Ben starts talking to an empty chair. Locke tells him he is pathetic, there is no Jacob and he turns to leave. Then he hears it, "Help Me." When he turns back, and shines his flashlight the place goes crazy. Things flying around the room, windows breaking. Still Locke can not see what it is and neither could we viewers. Until...until...a friend of mine (Mr Shust no less)...told me if you watch the episode online and freeze frame it right after Ben is pushed against the wall, you can see him, Jacob, sitting in the chair. For a split second you can see him.

When Randy came into the church at 5:45 saturday night, he pointed to a chair (on the opposite side of the auditorium where he usually sits) to his bible. In broad daylight. We had walked past the spot ten times.

Jesus says we have to have ears to hear and eyes to see. What could I be missing today and how will I do better in terms of looking and listening? On the listening side it is easier: talk less. On the looking side: ask a friend, he may have see the inside frame or he may have been there before and know where things go. Above all, pray always, asking God to reveal small and large things to you. And yes, you can pray and ask God to help you locate your keys to the car or your reading glasses :) Worship Well today.
