A Bit of a Bridge
Some of you may remember Simon and Garfunkel. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" was a seminal work for them.
"When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes,
I will dry them all;
I'm on your side, when times get rough;
And friends just can't be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down."
This time of year can cause people to be weary and feel small. School is almost over and there are alot of activities. Job pressures. Thoughts about summer. Will I get a vacation? What will I do in the fall? Questions abound. It can be stressful. Tiring.
It is hard. You may feel like crying. Paul Simon will not help. You are not surprised at that. Garfunkel? Nope. How about Jesus? Not really. "What!?! Isn't that the pat answer? Doesn't Jesus dry all my tears and lay Himself down like a bridge over my troubled waters?" Usually through others.
You are where you are and the waters may be troubled. Jesus may have given you a friend, a relative, maybe even a pastor to be with you. Someone who believes when you don't. Someone who has hope enough for both of you. If you have one, call out their name so to speak on the phone and they will come running. You've got a friend.
Maybe not. Maybe there is no one? Nope. There is me. If all else fails, I will be a bit of a bridge. Email me. Blog me. No one should have no one.
