Carols Sing

Caroling. That is a bit of an old fashioned word and only used around Christmas. It means singing songs of praise or joy. So really, we carol all year long. It has the same root as chorus or chorale.

So what shall we sing this year as Christmas draws near? Hark the Herald Angels Sing?, Joy to the World?, Silent Night? Maybe all the above and more. I find myself, maybe moreso at Christmas time singing without thinking, because I know them so well. So I skip over enjoying Wesley, as he writes about why Christ was born. Read on and enjoy!

Christ by highest heav'n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel

Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"
