Firewood

Well, it is a bit cold. Not exactly "fruitcake weather" as Truman Capote wrote, but it is getting cool. So, I called Mr Hendrix and he delivered firewood for me. Mr Hendrix is a wonderful gentle man who has a truck and trailer and delivers firewood and pinestraw at a good price. I used him last year. Let me know if you need his number.

We love the smell, sound and sight of a real fire in our house. So sorry but a "gas log" just is not the same. (I do admit I use a gas lighter to get the fire going...I am not a purist!). So we are happy to have wood. Now what does this have to do with worshipping well? As Mr. Hendrix finished stacking the wood I had this sense of satisfaction, readiness and confidence.

I remembered the women who were waiting for the bridegroom with lamps. It is good to know you have enough to get through the winter. Through the hard times and to be able to have enough in your spiritual bank to wait on the Lord. How do you "get wood" for your fire? It comes I think from the means of grace. Being in the word, prayer, fellowship and discipleship. Tonight and tomorrow we will be able to get some by worshipping and listening. Sorry but Randy P does not make house calls and I do not have a trailer. But please come and get some wood for the fire.

It may get cold this winter. Blessings (and no fruitcake please!)
