Thoughts from a non religious man

Anthony Daniels is an interesting and self professed non religious man. I read an interview with him in which he grieves over the plight of Europeans and astutely makes some observations on the "Why has it happened?" question. Overall he sees America having less social pathology then Britain, but he sees a trend. The main problem he sees is that people have "a lack of purpose and lack of feeling of belonging to anything larger than one's own little life"

He goes on to say that Brits (and others westerners like Americans) are not passing their culture on to the next generation. So for example, they do not teach the history of their own people or culture well. Although we as Americans have more of a sense of pride in our country, that is slipping away in the up and coming generation. As we decline as a world power (Read:India and China) we may have a loss in culutral self confidence.

He also has some interesting comments on why people choose religion. Anyway it is a good article and no, I do not agree with everything he says.

What does it have to do with Christians and worship? Well I think we may want to worship well by meditating on the fact that people have "a lack of purpose and a lack of sense of belonging." That thought alone should perhaps inspire us. We may have an answer for them.....unless we get caught up in social pathology ourselves. And along the way we should remember to be diligent about passing our Christian cultural identity along to the next generation. Blessings!
