Art

Pablo Picasso once said, "Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life." The further I move along in the Christian pilgrimage, the more I crave art. Paintings, sculpture, dance, drama, musical theater. It does seem to wash my soul. The National Gallery in London, Les Miserables, Ballet at Perimeter, new music by Aaron, Laura or Eric. There is something about art that touches my soul.

We had dinner tonight and just as I thought we laughed, told stories and ate. We shared about how we were impacted by a trip we took to London. When it was my turn, I thought of the great song from Les Miserables:

"Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me? Beyond the barricade is there a world you long to see?"

Such great imagery. I am thinking we need to ask ourselves because Jesus is asking us, "Who will be strong and stand with me?" There is a world I long to see beyond the barricade of my sin, secular humanism, materialisn, cynicism, Islamic imperialism and war. I am ready (tonight anyway) to join with Him, Long live the King!
