Hiroshima and Jesus
I have had quite the day. We shot videos for upcoming worship services. A story of a man being drawn to Christ. Almost thirty years later he still wept tears of joy. The story of women who have been hurt by men and saved by grace through it. A young girl who has an illness that causes her to know that Christ is enough.
And the story of a young girl who lived in Hiroshima at the end of World War II. "I was walking down the street and it knocked me over, I was unconscious. I woke up and I was burned." We had dropped an atomic bomb on her city. I will not spoil the rest of the God story for you, you will have to come see it for yourself. Suffice it to say, God is faithful. People have scars and Jesus does too. By His stripes we are healed. God does not prevent tragedy, but He uses all things for the good of His people and to glorify Himself.
I had ice cream with a young boy today. We get together from time to time. We chatted about Spider Man 3 and school getting out and video games. He will have a story to tell about his God. Maybe a bomb will drop, maybe an illness, maybe he will help women who are abused and see the face of God in the midst of chaos. Many years from now, maybe he will weep as he tells the story. His story of the God who is faithful.
So tonight I am thinking about my story. My scars. And the one who heals, the one who is faithful. I encourage you to look back a bit, the Lord has been there and He will be. Worship Well.
