The Garbage Men

My neighbor had colon cancer. We have known him for more then a decade, in fact he is like a second grandfather to our children. Anyway, before the surgery we went and prayed with him and his wife and daughter. It was a sweet time, just depending on the Lord to do a work. He is recovering now and is back home.

Today I saw the garbage men chatting with him. He knows the garbage men. He and his wife leave them some cold cokes in an igloo on "garbage day." So as the men come by on a hot summer day, they stop and grab a cold one.

He knows the garbage men. And they stop and talk to him. It just reminded me that we are left "a cold one" and we are invited to stop any time. I imagine when John dies (hopefully not soon John!) the garbage men will come to the funeral and weep. He and Elaine have ministered so well to them. They inspire me to worship well by loving the garbage men.
